IELTS in Nigeria 2026: Dates, Fees, and Registration

IDP Nigeria's published pricing lists IELTS Academic and General Training on computer at NGN 266,000, and IELTS for UKVI Academic or General Training on computer at NGN 285,500. Paper-based IELTS Academic or General Training is listed at NGN 277,000, and IELTS Life Skills on paper at NGN 269,000.

Nigeria does not have one static list that tells every candidate which seats are still available. Your real options depend on the city, provider, test type and remaining capacity. British Council Nigeria lists test locations including Abuja, Lagos (Gbagada, Ikeja, Ikoyi, Surulere, Yaba), Ibadan, Port Harcourt, Kano, Benin, Enugu, Calabar, Warri, Uyo, Ilorin, Akure, Osogbo, Asaba, Abeokuta and Ikorodu, among others.

Begin with an official British Council Nigeria or IDP Nigeria page. Choose the correct test, city and session; enter your personal details exactly as they appear on the identification document you will use; then check the test type, venue, date and total fee before payment.

After paying, keep the confirmation email and reference number. Check the full message rather than assuming the main test date covers every appointment, because your Speaking slot can have its own time.

Academic and General Training serve different purposes. A university course usually asks for Academic, while some migration, work or training routes may use General Training. UK visa applications can require IELTS for UKVI or Life Skills, depending on the route.

Do not choose only by price or the next available date. Read the requirement from the university, employer, professional body or visa authority and match its exact test name. A result from the wrong IELTS product may not satisfy the application.

IDP Nigeria's pricing lists both computer-delivered and paper-based IELTS, with computer-based results typically available faster. Availability of each format still depends on your city and chosen test centre.

Computer testing does not mean taking IELTS at home; you still attend an official centre. Whichever format you choose, your application plan should allow time for score delivery and an unexpected retake.
