IELTS in Bangladesh 2026: Fees, Registration, and One Skill Retake

The standard price is the clearest part of the current fee picture. British Council and IDP both list IELTS Academic and General Training on computer at BDT 29,600. The fee does not become lower simply because you choose General Training instead of Academic.

UKVI and Life Skills prices differ by provider. British Council currently lists IELTS for UKVI Academic or General Training at BDT 33,200 and Life Skills A1 or B1 at BDT 24,750. IDP’s current booking information lists IELTS for UKVI at BDT 27,450 and Life Skills at BDT 20,850. Use the amount shown by the provider you actually book with.

British Council and IDP are both official IELTS partners. The useful comparison is whether they offer the exact test, city, date and retake option you need. A standard Academic booking cannot replace IELTS for UKVI when a visa route explicitly requires the UKVI product.

Check the receiving organisation’s wording before paying. Choose Academic or General Training, then decide whether the application requires UKVI or Life Skills. Only after that should you compare provider availability and the final checkout price.

Start on an official British Council or IDP Bangladesh booking page. Choose the test type, city and available session, then enter your details exactly as they appear on the identification document required by that provider.

IDP Bangladesh says candidates must use a valid passport and upload a clear colour scan during registration. British Council asks for a valid identification document and allows online payment by bank card, with additional payment routes available through participating banks and registration centres. Keep the confirmation email, receipt and candidate reference after payment.

Computer-delivered IELTS runs frequently in Bangladesh, but a general calendar cannot show which sessions still have seats. IDP’s live pages display the test type, date, time, price and whether One Skill Retake is available at that centre. British Council also sends candidates from its booking page to current location and date choices.

Search by the city where you can realistically attend and compare more than one session. Do not build travel plans from a search-result snippet or an old PDF. The confirmation in your candidate account is the authority for the venue, time and Speaking appointment.

One Skill Retake lets an eligible candidate repeat Listening, Reading, Writing or Speaking once without sitting all four sections again. You must have completed a full IELTS on Computer test at a centre that offers the service, and the retake must be taken within 60 days of the original test.

The new Test Report Form combines the new skill score with the other three original scores. Your original result remains available. Before booking, check whether the university, professional body or immigration authority receiving your score accepts One Skill Retake.

British Council Bangladesh lists One Skill Retake at BDT 18,650 for standard Academic or General Training on computer and BDT 20,145 for IELTS for UKVI on computer. IDP’s Bangladesh fee page lists standard One Skill Retake at BDT 14,175.

These amounts should not be mixed with the price of a full retake. Provider pages can be updated at different times, and the available One Skill Retake product depends on the original test and centre. Open the retake option from your result or candidate portal and confirm its current fee before payment.

One Skill Retake is most relevant when one section missed the requirement and the receiving organisation accepts the new report. A full retake may be the safer choice when two or more skills are below target, the organisation does not accept One Skill Retake or your 60-day window has closed.

Compare the required minimum for each skill, not only the overall band. If Writing is below the threshold but the other three scores already qualify, a focused retake plan can make sense. If several sections are unstable, use the existing Nektar IELTS study and scoring guides to plan a broader preparation cycle.

IDP states that IELTS on Paper is no longer offered in Bangladesh after 31 January 2026, and British Council’s current booking page lists computer options. IELTS on computer is taken at an official test centre; it is not an at-home test.

Official live listings commonly show results in one to five days. Leave more time than that between the test and an application deadline because score delivery, an unexpected centre change or a retake can extend the real timeline.
