SAT in India 2026: Dates, Fees, Registration, and Scholarships

College Board lists a USD 68 SAT registration fee and a USD 43 international fee for students testing outside the United States. The base total for a standard SAT registration in India is therefore USD 111 through December 2026.

The final amount charged to an Indian payment method can vary with the card issuer’s exchange rate and any applicable charges. Late registration costs an additional USD 38, and a USD 24 test-centre fee applies at selected international locations. Review the itemised total in College Board before paying rather than converting USD 111 at an old exchange rate.

College Board uses the same 2026–27 SAT Weekend dates and deadlines for U.S. and international students. For the rest of 2026, the test dates are August 22, September 12, October 3, November 7 and December 5. The next spring dates are March 6, May 1 and June 5, 2027.

Every deadline closes at 11:59 p.m. U.S. Eastern Time, not India Standard Time. Use the regular deadline as your target because a place in your preferred city is not guaranteed. Create or sign in to your own College Board student account, choose a date, enter your identifying information, upload a compliant photo and select an available test centre. College Board says registration takes about 30 minutes and must be completed by the student, not by a parent or counsellor.

Test-centre availability changes by date. Search more than one nearby location inside the registration flow and do not rely on a copied list of Indian centres. If you need to borrow a device from College Board, register and request it at least 30 days before test day.

The College Board India Scholars Program offers SAT registration discounts to income-eligible students who live in India and are in Class XI or XII. Students with annual family income below ₹8 lakh can apply for a 90% discount. Students with annual family income from ₹8 lakh to ₹15 lakh can apply for a 50% discount.

College Board states that every eligible student who applies for a discount voucher will receive one. Apply for the voucher before completing SAT registration, then use the code in the College Board payment flow. This program is separate from the standard U.S. SAT fee-waiver rules.

An income-eligible student living in India who scores 1300 or higher may qualify to apply for a merit-cum-need scholarship at a participating Indian university. College Board says students with annual family income below ₹8 lakh may be considered for a full-tuition scholarship through graduation.

A 1300 score does not automatically award a scholarship or admission. The student must apply to a participating university, meet its admission requirements and enter its scholarship selection process. The university chooses recipients from the eligible applicant pool.

College Board maintains an India acceptance table showing whether a university uses the SAT for Indian residents, foreign nationals or nonresident Indians. It also indicates free score sends, participation in the India Scholars Program and whether SAT scores are accepted for certain B.Tech or engineering programmes.

Treat that table as a starting point. College Board warns that it may not reflect the latest policy of every university, school or department. Confirm the current course-level requirement, application deadline, score policy and scholarship rules on the university’s own website before sending a score.

College Board’s international policy page says Sunday SAT testing is not available in India. Plan around the published Saturday dates and do not assume an alternative Sunday administration will be offered.

Bring the accepted photo identification shown in College Board’s current test-day policy, complete Bluebook exam setup on time and check your registration account for centre changes. If your preferred city is full, compare another date or nearby centre through the live search rather than using an unofficial registration service.
